Brevard is experiencing signs of spring earlier than usual this year. We have had mild winter weather and are now enjoying crocus anddaffodils, the first heralds of spring.

In recent months, there has been a decided increase in real estate activity in Brevard and Transylvania County. Inventory is the lowest it has been in several months, investors are coming back into the market, and many homeseekers have decided that it's time to buy!

Brevard College Gets New President

Dr. David Joyce has assumed the position of President at Brevard College. Joyce has over thirty years experience in higher education at private colleges. A native of North Carolina, he comes to Brevard from his most recent position as President of Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin.
Dr. Joyce acknowledges that private institutions have had difficult times in recent years, but he feels confident about the future of Brevard College.

Joyce and his wife Lynn recently entertained the Brevard community at a reception at the College's Porter Center. They invite the community to participate in College activities and to become a vital part of Brevard College.

Mountain Bikers Hail Transylvania

Bike Magazine, the nation's premier mountain biking magazine have called Transylvania County "America's Best Kept Secret" and the "Cycling Capital of the South" in the January 2012 issue
In recent weeks, representatives from the magazine have devoted themselves to testing the latest bikes and equipment on the trails of Pisgah National Forest and DuPont State Forest, stating that the area, with its vast forestlands, offers some of the finest cycling in the country.
